News you can count on. Made possible by you.
Nearly four years ago a group of journalists, former journalists and community activists formed a journalism non-profit to journalistically tell North Dakota stories.

We did it because more and more, the stories that were being told in our digital world were either made up, twisted into advocacy, or embellished in search of clicks. Meanwhile, much of the revenue that for more than 100 years had supported journalism was being diverted to support the ugly stepsisters, Mis and Disinformation.
There is all kinds of evidence that shows journalism and local news encourage civic engagement, increase the number of candidates for public office and the voter turnout, hold government officials accountable, and bring communities together. We’re doing our level best to be a trusted source of information so that North Dakotans can separate real journalism – multi-sourced, vetted, fact-checked, edited – from those ugly stepsisters. We hope you’ll help, by reading the journalism we produce and if you can, by supporting it with your donations.
Through Dec. 31st, NewsMatch will match your new monthly donation 12x (or double your one-time donation), up to $1,000. This is a great opportunity to help power our work into 2026.
Sincerely,
Steve Andrist
