A new interactive exhibit celebrating the founding of the United States is now on display at the North Dakota State Capitol. The Founders’ Museum installation features a series of portraits and visual storytelling experiences highlighting key figures and moments from the American Revolution.

The exhibit includes depictions of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence, a few influential women of the Revolutionary era, and pivotal events that shaped the nation, including the Boston Massacre and Paul Revere’s midnight ride. See paintings come to life in short videos that provide additional historical context and insight.

“The Founders’ Museum offers a unique opportunity for North Dakotans to engage with the stories and individuals who helped shape our nation,” said Bill Peterson, director of the State Historical Society of North Dakota and chair of the ND250 Commission. “It’s an accessible and interactive way to reflect on the ideals and events that continue to influence our country today.”

The exhibit is part of a broader national effort tied to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, with celebrations taking place throughout 2026. The Founders’ Museum is designed to bring the story of America to communities across the country through engaging, educational experiences.

The exhibit is located on the ground floor near the Capitol CafeThe exhibit is open during regular Capitol Complex business hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors should use the public entrance on the south side of the Capitol. Visitors to the Capitol are encouraged to explore the exhibit and learn more about the people and moments that defined the nation’s early history.
